1. Master’s in Accounting

Join the Umeå School of Business and Economics. The goal of this program is to provide students with managerial and analytical skills and an understanding of the rules and standards governing conduct in accounting and auditing. The program offers a thorough grounding in management accounting, financial accounting, auditing, financial statement analysis, and valuation. During the elective periods, students can expand their field of interest by studying in such areas as corporate governance.

 

2. Master’s in Chemistry

The chemistry programme (you may choose between Environmental, Medicinal or Protein Chemistry) aims to provide knowledge and skills for solving and critically assessing chemistry-related problems. You will learn how to compile, analyze, critically review, and present scientific texts and your own data.

The Master’s project is a research project completed under the guidance of a supervisor, defended in public, and by a written thesis.

 

3. Master’s in Computing Science

The Master’s in Computing Science allows you do deepen your expertise in computing science in specialization areas of your own choice. Most of the teachers are active researchers in the area they teach. Examples of possible specialization areas are artificial intelligence, data bases, theoretical computer science, distributed systems, parallel computing, and human-computer interaction.

For successful studies, it is necessary that you already have both theoretical and practical knowledge and skills regarding algorithmic problem solving, that you can program in different programming languages like C, Java and Python, and that you are able to add new programming languages to your repertoire without much explicit help. You will also need prior knowledge in theoretical computer science concerning automata and formal languages, computational complexity, and computability.

 

4. Master’s in Management

This program provides students with the opportunity to acquire the managerial skills needed to deal with the complex, global, and constantly changing world of business. Intellectually challenging tasks are combined with real-life applications in the areas of strategic and change management, project management, and human resource management. Because theory is never enough, the program is balanced with the most recent research achievements, better preparing students for a working life in contemporary and future corporate and community worlds. The international dimension permeates the issues and applications dealt with in the courses, and internationalization is an integrated part of the educational environment.

 

5. Master’s in Marketing

This programme is also given by Umeå School of Business and Economics. The objective of this programme is to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the role of marketing in the overall corporate strategy, knowledge of consumer behaviour and competitive analysis, and experience in making executive-level decisions in the area of marketing management. The program emphasizes the application of marketing theory and hands-on experience in designing and implementing market strategies in competitive environments through the balanced use of cases, the state-of-the-art online simulation, modeling tools, and actual fieldwork experience.
