This is Vol. 5 of the book “Software Solutions to Problems on Heat Transfer”.

Present Volume deals with the important subject of RADIATION HEAT TRANSFER.

In this book, many Functions are written on View Factors for various geometries, Radiation exchange in 2_zone and 3-zone enclosures, Radiation shields etc. in Mathcad, EES and EXCEL-VBA. These Functions enable us to perform the complicated calculations very easily.

In this Volume, presented in two parts, problems are solved on following topics:

  • Laws of Radiation and Radiation properties
  • View factors & Radiation energy exchange between black bodies
  • Electrical network method & Radiation energy exchange in 2-zone and 3-zone enclosures
  • Radiation shielding, Radiation error in temperature measurement.
  • Here also, problems are solved using the popular software, viz. “Mathcad”, “Engineering Equation Solver (EES)”, and MS EXCEL spreadsheet. Comments are included generously in the codes so that the logic behind the solutions is clear.

  1. 5D Radiation shields
  2. 5E ‘Radiation error’ in temperature measurement
  3. References
This book is very good for all UG, PG and Ph. D. students. The solutions for the various problems are excellent. The Mathcad software is used very efficiently and intelligently for solving the problems.. I am using this book for my research work sponsored by ASHRAE.
