Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems help in maintaining the quality of air inside a facility and hence have a direct impact on the health, comfort and productivity of the most important asset of an organization i.e. the employees. Some critical equipment and processes also require a very strict regime of temperature and humidity and any deviations can lead to a business impact or production loss. The HVAC systems are also the largest contributor to a facility’s electricity consumption. For the above reasons, it is of utmost importance that the facilities staff have a good understanding of the systems deployed. This e-book discusses the basics of heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment in facilities and is suitable for students as well as fresh entrants and non-technical staff in the facilities management field wishing to get a basic understanding of the HVAC systems.
