CSR isn't a department or slogan. It's about making business decisions that help solve social and environmental problems, all while providing consumers with products they want to buy.

Description

Why is corporate social responsibility (CSR) not a department, and why is it important to turn CSR into an integral part of business as usual? Dawna Jones: Yes, I've been asked this many times. CSR isn't a department because corporate citizenship or corporate philanthropy aren't departments either; they're activities that involve everyone in the company and align with a bigger purpose. When you talk about corporate citizenship, you can break it down further into corporate responsibilities-which are shared by everyone-and corporate giving, which is what the corporate foundation does.
