Just before departing for the Clipper Round the World Race Richard Oakley a director of Methods Analytics meets Michael Millward to discuss a quotation from Hannibal the Carthaginian general who marched elephants across the Alps during a war with the Romans.
On face value the quotation could be seen as arrogant. But, after considering it in the context of Hannibal reflecting on his campaigns Richard and Michael discover that Hannibal was not being arrogant. Instead, Hannibal was emphasising the importance of leadership, learning, and teamwork in finding solutions.
