The Basics of Business Management – Vol I is part of the two volumes of The Basics of Business Management book. This is a new approach of putting together material that covers all the major disciplines in business management in one book but in two volumes. It is aimed at both the students and the practitioners in the fields of business studies and economics who require a quick guide book. Vol I highlights the distinction between leadership and management; discusses the key aspects of financial management such as management of cash, credit management, management of working capital, and financial ratios; and covers the key aspects in economics - divided into micro and macroeconomics. You should also read Vol. II to cover all the salient issues in business management. Elly R. Twineyo Kamugisha is an economist and professional of business management. He has had a long career working in the private sector, donor projects, government, academia and civil society.

He was lecturer (Part time/ Full time) for over 10 years teaching and supervising students in the courses of economics, business management, and law. Currently he is the CEO of Uganda Export Promotion Board (UEPB). 

He has made several presentations to business associations, academia, and government and written several articles in different media. He is the author of Why Africa Fails (2012). He is a full member of The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), UK and The Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS), UK. 

He is a graduate of the University Of London in UK (Msc. Finance/Economic Policy) and Makerere University (Msc. Marketing with research focusing on government and export performance). He has a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing, CIM, and Graduate Diploma in Purchasing and Supply, CIPS. He was awarded a PhD (Honoris Causa), UGC Tennessee.
