About the Expert
Mhairi Aitken is a Senio Ethics Fellow at The Alan Touring Institute (the UK’s National Institute for AI and Data Science) and a recognized expert in AI ethics and public engagement. She led the world’s first Children’s AI Summit in 2025 and developed the Human Rights Impact Assessment tool that was formally adopted by the Council of Europe in December 2024. Named among the 100 Brilliant Women in AI Ethics in 2023, Mhairi brings a unique blend of academic rigor and creative communication to complex topics. She is also a regular Edinburgh Festical Fringe performer, using comedi to make AI ethics accessible to diverse audiences. Her research focuses specificall on how public engagement can inform responsible AI developmen, making her perfectly positioned to guide organizations in ethical AI implementation and stakeholder engagement strategies.
