This is the first state-of-the-art book on hydrogen safety engineering. About the Author

Vladimir Molkov

Prof Vladimir Molkov is a physicist (Quantum Radiophysics) graduated Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (1977). PhD in Chemical Physics, including Physics of Combustion and Explosion (1984). DSc in Fire and Explosion Safety (1997). Head of Fire Modelling Department, All-Russian Research Institute for Fire Protection (before 1999). Professor of Fire Safety Science, Ulster University (since 1999).

In 2008 he established Hydrogen Safety Engineering and Research Centre (HySAFER), one of the key providers of safety research and education globally. Prof Molkov coordinates(ed)/participates(ed) in major European and UK projects related to hydrogen safety. He champions hydrogen safety research in the UK through the EPSRC H2FC Hub. External funding during 2004-2019 is £8M. The thrust is on theoretical and numerical studies, and strong international collaboration with experimental centers of excellence. Prof Molkov initiated research-led World's first MSc course in Hydrogen Safety Engineering (2007), in 2016-2019 has been teaching module "Principles of hydrogen safety" at the University of Birmingham (EPSRC CDT Future Fuels), and since 2019 will teach annually 20 PhD students in Nottingham University (EPSRC CDT Sustainable Hydrogen), since AY 2018-2019 established with HySAFER colleagues PgCert in Professional Development (Hydrogen Safety).

In 2012 he published the only book in the field "Fundamentals of hydrogen safety engineering". He publishes about 6 journal papers annually. Member, European Hydrogen Safety Panel, Hydrogen Europe Research, WG Cross-Cutting Issues of Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking, European Regulations Codes and Standards Strategy Coordination Group, UN Global Technical Regulation on Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Vehicles Informal Working Group Sub-Group Safety, IEA HIA Task 37 Hydrogen safety. Represents Ulster in General Assembly of International Association for Hydrogen Safety (IA HySafe), chairs Education Committee of IA HySafe.
