When we communicate, we rely on language and its nuances that are not always commonly practiced in every interaction. Take then into consideration our assumptions, beliefs, opinions and emotional state in the interaction, and miscommunication happens very quickly. What we say is not always the full picture, there is information that can be lacking, or internal dialogue has influenced our communication, unknowingly to the other. The same with hearing. Our assumptions about what is being communicated changes the meaning of what is said. To resolve this, we can pay attention to what we mean, what we say, and then, what we hear and what we assume.
