The modern manager needs to develop leadership skills. Leaders create an inspirational vision to gain the commitment of staff to achieve goals. There is a difference between managers and leaders. Managers implement policy. Leaders create and communicate policy and lead people.Managers need to delegate to free themselves up to concentrate on the critical tasks of management. The power of expectation is a good motivator as staff like to live up to their manager’s expectations.
